What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On December 1, 2002, a PA-18 super cub, N7002Z, piloted by carroll campbell, received substantial damage while landing on a logging road at san juan bay. Pilot stated that he originally landed on the beach, then decided to reposition the aircraft to a more protected area when the winds became gusty on the beach. Pilot states he departed the beach then conducted several touch and gos on the logging road to check the landing area. Pilot then made the subject landing and on roll-out the right wing came into contact with brush. The brush caught the wing and swung the aircraft around. The left main landing gear hit a berm and collapsed, causing the left wing to contact the ground.
