From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At about 1549HR a Cessna 310-F entered the landing pattern at the Kenai, Alaska airport. Pilot lowered the landing gear. During the process of the landing gear extension, the pilot heard a noise originating from the nose area of the airplane. Once the landing gear had lowered fully the pilot did not receive a green light indicating that each of the three landing gear were down and locked. Pilot cycled the gear several times without getting a green light. Pilot lowered the landing gear manually, still no gear down and locked indication. Pilot requested and was approved for a fly-by of the Kenai tower. Tower personnel saw that the nose landing gear was not completely lowered. Pilot circled the Kenai airport and did another fly-by, ground personnel also verified that the nose landing gear was not completely lowered. Pilot completed emergency landing check list. Airplane landed on runway 1L. Nose landing gear collapsed upon landing. Both nose landing gear doors damaged from contact with the runway. Each blade of the two propellers were damaged. A smal puncture to the right wing tip tank. No other damage to the airplane. The landing gear was swung at the last annual inspection in September 2002.
