What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Airman departed Eloy (E60) with minimum fuel for scottsdale (sdl). During climbout, while in a nose-high attitude, airman states the engine "sputtered." He immediately switched fuel tanks and the engine cleared up. He then decided to return for landing instead of continuing on to sdl. He states he made a tight pattern and on short final realized he was high and fast and when he reduced power to idle he received what he though was the stall warning horn (now realizes it was actually gear warning horn) and decided to go around. The next pattern he states was normal, however when he reduced the power, he again received the warning horn and assumed it was a problem with the stall warning horn and inadvertently landed with the gear up.
As the FAA filed it
(-23) AIRMAN DEPARTED ELOY (E60) WITH MINIMUM FUEL FOR SCOTTSDALE (SDL).
