From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On departure from myrtle beach, SC airport (myr) enroute to Fayetteville, NC (fay) pilot noted that landing gear was not indicating up and that the circuit breaker had popped. Tried resetting the cb to no avail. Continued to fay, where he was unable to lower the gear in the normal manner, or using the emergency procedure. He made a low pass and tower person, jill merrill, confirmed the gear was not fully down. She suggested that the pilot proceed to grays creek airport (2GC), where dale smith, an A&P mechanic and flight instructor, might be able to assist him. He tried all of Mr. Smith's suggestions, without success. They returned to fay and decided to land with the gear partially extended before it got dark. On touchdown on runway 28, the gear fully retracted, the prop hit the runway and the aircraft stopped without injury to the 3 occupants.
