From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was on 1st flight after annual inspection for the purpose of bi-annual flight check. Aircraft departed vashon, island, WA. Aircraft enroute to Bremerton, WA. Pilot reported gear was selected down while on 45 to runway. Pilot reported that when gear was selected to the down position he heard a slight pop sound, pilot then stated that he verified he had a green light along with visual indication of the nose gear being in the down position. Pilot reported that the gear indication was verified three times prior to landing at which time the nose gear collapsed. I inspected the aircraft on 12/23/02 at the Bremerton airport, found the aft rod end for the retract rod assembly at the bellcrank on the landing gear actuator assembly. Suspect that the landing gear motor over ran the down limit switch.
