What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Mr. Groves was flying the aircraft from takeoff until Mr. Neville asked to take the controls on final approach into W13. Mr. Neville felt that the glider was too high for landing and elected to take the controls, deployed the speed brakes, and side slipped the aircraft. Over the approach end of the runway the nose was straightened, however the high sink rate developed from the slip was not arrested, which resulted in a hard landing. Neither pilot was injured and the aircraft damage was minor.
