From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On January 17, 2003 at 1232 CST a Mooney M20J, N2146X, landed on rwy 31 at West Bend, WI and the right main gear collapsed followed by the nose gear, during roll out. The private pilot reported no injuries, and the aircraft sustained minor damage. The aircraft was being operated as a personal flight by richard loberger the owner of the aircraft, under 14 CFR part 91 when the incident occurred. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a IFR flight plan was filed. Inspection of the aircraft revealed the right main gear retraction tube was bent. The gear system was checked for operation and the cause for the bent tube could not be determined. The tube was straightened and the gear and all warning systems were functional checked using normal retraction and extension procedures no defects were found. The collapse of the nose gear was due to a structure failure as a result of the right main gear collapse.
