From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) A few minutes following departure from penn valley airport (seg) the pilot suspected his aircraft's engine had developed carburetor ice. The pilot decided to make a precautionary landing on a grass airfield owned by the pilot. The pilot stated that he made his approach too high and fast (70-75 mph). He set his flaps at 12 degrees, touched down, bounced, and preceded approximately 450' from touchdown past the runway over a cornfield and struck his neighbor's barn with the spinner of subject aircraft.
