From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On March 14, 2003, at 2000 EST, a Mooney M20K, N262CJ, registered to Mr. Coy jacob, dba summa sales, experienced a gear up landing at the Venice Municipal Airport, Venice, Florida, after a part 91 personal flight. Due to the late reporting of the incident, meteorological conditions prevailing at the time could not be determined, nor could it be determined whether a flight plan was filed. The aircraft sustained minor damage and the commercial pilot was not injured. The flight originated at st. louis, Missouri. The left main landing gear began collapsing after touchdown due to a bent left-hand retraction rod. The bent rod prevented the left main gear from locking over-center. The aircraft veered off the left side of the runway and came to rest supported by the left wing, the nose gear, and the right main gear. Damage to the main gear doors indicates that at some point prior to the gear failure, the aircraft contacted a paved surface with all three landing gears in the retracted position.

As the FAA filed it
