From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) CFI was conducting touch and goes with a student who held a private pilot certificate and was working on his commercial rating. This was the student pilot's first flight in the 172RG and the CFI had 25 hours in this type. Upon landing on runway, the student pilot went to clean the aircraft configuration up for takeoff and instead of raising the flaps grabbed the gear handle and pulled it to the up position. At that point, the nose gear collapsed and the prop struck the runway.
