What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(.19) On March 3, 2003, about 1400 mountain standard time, a homebuilt towner kit fox 4, N95FT, made an emergency landing at glendale, Arizona, after losing its propeller during flight. The local area instructional flight was being operated under the provisions of 14 CFR part 91 by the pilot/owner. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan had been filed. The private pilot and the certified flight instructor were not injured; the airplane sustained substantial damage. The flight departed glendale municipal airport about 1310. A local law enforcement sergeant interviewed the pilot. The pilot stated that the instructional flight departed about 50 minutes earlier. During the flight the propeller came off of the airplane. The CFI made an emergency landing in a field. (-23) during an instructional flight the wood laminated propeller came apart. The pilot shut down the engine and accomplished an off airport emergency landing in a farm field. The aircraft impacted a dirt berm and flipped over, causing substantial damage. The right seat occupant suffered a minor head wound and the PIC was uninjured. Investigation revealed that three inches and the trailing edge of one propeller blade was missing. There was no evidence of a pre-existing condition. The blade was also broken at the base near the hub.
