From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On March 20, 2003 at approx 1844 PST, a PA-28R-200 s/n 28R-35262, while landing on rwy 7 at north Las Vegas, NV airport (vgt), landed with the NLG extended but the MLG in transit. A/c settled upon tail tiedown fitting and NLG, traveled 4-500 ft and departed left side of rwy at +/- 2500 ft remaining point. A/c had minor damage to l/h wing, aileron and flap; tail tiedown and r/h wing tip. Upon a/c recovery both MLG extended normally. It was noted the NLG actuator attach point to the downlock assy was broken. Investigation determined that PIC never used checklist and never selected gear down. A/c auto lg extension system tried to extend the lg but a/c was too close to rwy for full MLG extension. A/c system operated as designed and lowered lg upon decrease of a/s below +/- 80 KTS with throttle below 14" map.
