From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Approximately 1000 feet down runway 5, engine began running rough, takeoff accomplished, when engine roughness intensified. Pilot cleared trees at end of runway making 90 degrees right maneuver followed by approximately 120 degrees left turn to make runway. Engine not making power at this point. Pilot impacted off the end of runway 23 (into a berm - rising up to runway level). Aircraft bounced twice, flipping over. Subsequent flow bench testing of carburator revealed lower than normal fuel flow and extremely dirtya chamber bleed holes. In addition, the carburetor air filter was the foam element style and the foam was old and deteriorated with evidence of previous exposure to high heat, possibly from intake fire during starting. Inspection of engine fuel delivery pumps and magnetos revealed no defects. Specific cause for engine malfunction unknown at this time.

As the FAA filed it
