From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On March 25, 2003, at approximately 6:10 pm, Cessna aircraft, N9773B, landed runway 34 at Midland airpark, Midland, Texas (mdd). After landing the nose gear collapsed and the aircraft came to a stop on the runway. The propeller, nose gear doors, and lower forward cowling were damaged in the incident. The pilot Mr. Samuel r. madison, stated that shortly after landing he heard a radio call from another aircraft who had apparently had to make evasive maneuvers to avoid collision with Mr. Madison aircraft when Mr. Madison turned on final (see attached statement from Mr. Madison). In his statement Mr. Madison says he inadvertently moved the landing gear switch to the up position while cleaning up the aircraft after landing. The mistake was attributed to him being startled by the radio call from the other aircraft. No injuries were reported.
