From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At 1816 PST Mr. Slakey conducted a VFR take-off on runway 14 at Harris Ranch Airport, Coalinga, CA. According to the pilot (slakey) he used 10 degrees of flaps for the take-off. After accelerating to take-off speed, the aircraft became airborne but did not, accordign to the pilot, climb very fast. At the end of the runway, Mr. Slakey, brought up the 10 degrees of flaps, where upon the aircraft settled back to the ground into an onion field off the end runway 14. Damage to the aircraft was to the left wing, left flap, left main landing gear, stabilator and the propeller. There were no injuries. An "on-scene" investigation by the fresno FSDO was not conducted since the NTSB released the wreckage before the FSDO was notified of the accident at Harris ranch.
