From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

(-23) On approach to runway 24 at iag, N6171V, a Cessna 172, registered to prior aviation, buffalo, NY, struck the prop upon landing. Tower called the winds at 170 at 13. This gave a tailwind component of 4.5 and a crosswind of 12.0. The PIC stated he applied full right rudder and full left aileron. Upon touchdown the aircraft turned to the right of centerline and left rudder and aileron were applied and the PIC stated that at that point the tail kept raising until the prop struck the runway. The PIC parked the aircraft and called maintenance. Maintenance replaced the prop and initiated an engine tear down. Upon engine reassembly the aircraft will be returned to service. privacy data omitted There was no injury to the pilot and no personal property damage. This incident is considered closed.
