(-23) Pilot's statement: may 15, 2003 dear Mr. Morgan, as we discussed on may 12th, I departed san carlos airport for a flight to lincoln and then on to Truckee. I retracted the landing gear and everything was fine. I flew direct to lincoln and extended the landing gear. I had a green light on the instrument panel and could see the landing gear down in the wing tip mirror. I landed on runway 15 and taxied over near the self serve fuel pump and exited the airplane. I spent about five minutes outside the airplane before getting back in and taxiing back to runway 15. I departed lincoln and retracted the landing gear and again, everything was fine. I flew direct to Truckee. While over downtown Truckee, I extended the landing gear. I again had a green light on the instrument panel and could see the landing gear extended in the wing tip mirror. I entered the pattern for runway 19 and again checked the wing tip mirror and could see the landing gear extended. I touched down on the main wheels in the first quarter of the runway. As the nose of the airplane began to come down, I realized that there was a problem with the nose gear. The prop then struck the ground, followed by the nose of theairplane coming in contact with the runway. I skidded down the runway on the nose of the airplane for a short distance before coming to a stop near the centerline of the runway. I was the only person aboard and I was not injured. My total flying hours are 343, time in type is 240 and time in the last 90 days is 14. As requested, I have enclosed copies from the aircraft log books of the last annual. Also enclosed is a copy from my pilot log book of my last bfr. Terrance m. quinn
