From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N561GR departed runway 28R. Part of the left engine upper cowl separated and struck the left horizontal stabilizer. Runway 28R was closed for debris removal/inspection. Pilot was advised by ATC of ejected cowling. Pilot initially requested to burn fuel prior to return. Pilot then experienced increased vibration and asked for expedited handling to return. N561GR was cleared to land on runway 28L. Airport rescue & fire fighters were notified. Fire vehicles following N561GR observed debris falling on 28L. N561GR taxied clear under own power and 28L was closed for debris removal/inspection. Runway closures caused minor non-reportable delays to vfr/ifr arrivals. Aircraft damage was minor and limited to left engine upper cowling and a dent in the left horizontal stabilizer.
