From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On June 7, 2003 at approximately 1445 LCL time roger nelson privacy data omitted sustained fatal injuries during a Skydive when his parachute canopy was invaded by another parachutist todd r fey privacy data omitted at approximately 50 to 100 feet above the ground. Both parachutists left the aircraft normally developing a normal parachute canopy and descending normally until the final part of the event. At that time Mr. Fey had made a turn to get into position for final landing when he invaded Mr. Nelson's parachute canopy causing it to deflate. Due to the close proximity to the ground there was no possibility of cut away for reserve parachute utilization nor the possibility of re-inflating the original parachute.
