From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) When returning from a part 91 flight the pilot of N5058P experienced a loss of engine power. Unable to restart engine the pilot made a dead stick landing, on U.S. Route 95, 10 miles north of Fallon Municipal Airport (flx). This landing was executed in a southerly heading and during roll out the pilot experienced oncoming highway traffic and elected to depart the highway, to the right, to avoid a collision. In doing so both wings contacted road side markers causing substantial damage to both wings. A mechanic, A&P with inspection authorization, was dispatched to the scene to check the aircraft for fuel starvation. The mechanic reported that the aircraft did not have fuel in the left tank and the right tank had little to no fuel. Fuel pump and engine fuel lines had no evidence of fuel. Operation of aux fuel pump produced no fuel flow. Fuel line disconnected at carb and operation of aux fuel pump produced no fuel. Aircraft was serviced with 10 gallons of fuel and a full power engine run completed with no defects noted.
