From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On June 13, 2003, at approximately 2020 MST, an experimental Kowtun mini 500 helicopter, N919WK, impacted the ground and rolled over on its right side, at the Deer valley airport;Phoenix. Arizona. The pilot stated that during a hover, the helicopter started an uncontrolled right rotation. After 5 to 6, 360 degree rotations the pilot brought the throttle to the idle position, this slowed the rotation and the pilot then lowered the collective. As the helicopter settled to the ground, the right skid collapsed due to the aircraft's rotation, the aircraft then rolled on its right side. The pilot exited the aircraft. N919WK destroyed by post crash fire.

As the FAA filed it
