(-23) On June 19, 2003, at approximately 0947 CDT, Raytheon 58P, N64200, sn: TJ-420, sustained minor damage as a result of a nose landing gear failure during the landing rollout on runway 35R at the Lincoln, Nebraska municipal airport. The PIC, and sole occupant reported no injury. Subsequent investigation disclosed that the nose landing gear retract rod, pn: 36-820011-3, had bent during an attempt to extend the landing gear. The bent nose gear retract rod restricted the NLG travel, preventing the nose gear to lock in the down position. Subsequent investigation further established that the NLG scissors were incorrectly positioned following maintenance, causing the offset nose wheel to wedge against the NLG steering rod, pn: 102-820012-3. (-23 amendment) on June 19, 2003, at approximately 0947 CDT, Raytheon 58P, N64200, sn: TJ-420, sustained minor damage as a result of a nose landing gear failure during the landing rollout on runway 35R at the Lincoln, Nebraska municipal airport. The PIC, and sole occupant, reported no injury. Subsequent investigation established that the lower nose landing gear torque knee, pn 96-820020-1, was incorrectly positioned to the right of the upper nose gear torque knee, creating the misalignment of the nose wheel assembly. The misaligned nose wheel wedged against the forward nose gear retract rod, pn: 96-820025, in the nose wheel well with the gear in the retracted position. This mechanical resistance caused the aft nose landing gear retract rod,pn: 36-820011-3, to bend when the gear was selected to the down position. The bending of the aft nose gear retract rod effectively reduced the length of the rod and would not drive the gear to the locked position.
