From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The amateur/exp aircraft had never been flown until this date. The PIC made several taxi test runs before the actual flight. Weather conditions at the time of the accident were VFR but very windy out of the north. The Chehalem airpark runway is 07-25. A ninety degree crosswind was in effect as the PIC made the maiden takeoff on runway 25. A right traffic pattern was flown at a high altitude according to eye witnesses. The PIC turned base leg to final and seemed to slow the aircraft to lose altitude. A stall occurred as the PIC applied full power. A recovery was made and a secondary stall followed striking the ground short of the runway. The PIC was fatally injured and the aircraft destroyed. A small fire occurred as the PIC was removed from the wreckage but the on scene fire department contained the fire without delay. The wreckage was removed, per the NTSB, to the pic's hanger on site at 17S for further investigation.

As the FAA filed it
