From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On Friday, July 04, 2003, the owner of a Globe swift, N78053, departed runway 19 at the Truckee-Tahoe Airport, Truckee, CA. Witnesses state the aircraft appeared to be making a high performance takeoff by pulling the aircraft up into a nose high pitch attitude, immediately retracting the landing gear while starting a gentle right turn. According to witnesses the aircraft appeared to be "mushing" while trying to gain some altitude. The nose of the aircraft came down some and the aircraft looked like it might pancake into the ground. At this point the aircraft started a roll to the right and impacted the ground in a nearly vertical attitude from about 150 feet. No fire occurred. This report closed.
