From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During his climb to about 8,500 feet his wood propeller split in half horizontally causing intolerable vibration forcing him to shut the engine off. During the unplanned landing the aircraft hit some trees before coming to rest. The pilot was hospitalized in denver, Colorado with a broken right ankle, multiple cuts to his face and other body parts, sore lower back and possible vertabrae injury. This is an interim report. When more information becomes available, an amended report will be issued.
