From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reported that he was flying direct from reno NV to reid hilview airport. Pilot reported that at 6500 feet the aircraft experienced a sudden surge of power then power dropped from 2400 RPM to idle. Pilot reported that he had oil pressure and oil temperature. Pilot estimated that the aircraft fuel supply was 35-40 gallons, 1/4 to 1/2 tank of fuel in the left hand wing; fuel qty indicator in yellow arc, 15 gallons, 1/4 tank in right. Pilot declared emergency with oakland center and switched aircraft communications to Livermore (lvk) ATC tower. Lvk cleared aircraft for emergency landing. Pilot realized that he could not make it to lvk. Lvk advised pilot of a private airstrip (meadow lark) located behind aircraft. Pilot aborted landing at lvk, turned aircraft toward meadow lark and could not make field. Pilot landed aircraft on a gravel parking lot in a rv storage area. Aircraft landed in an open area between 2 rows of rvs. Aircraft right wing clipped a rv causing minor damage to l/h front corner of rv. Aircraft proceeded into a fence which stopped the aircraft. Aircraft was observed sitting on the damaged fence and a row of grape vines. Aircraft sustained substantial damage.
