From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On August 21, 2003 at approximately 0005MDT, N594DM, a Cessna CE-402-C, departed Albuquerque, NM enroute to dallas, TX. During the climb the aircraft gear unlock annunciator and the hydraulic annunciator light illuminated. The pilot-in-command cycled the gear several times and then the cabin began to fill with what the pilot thought was smoke (it was determined later that is was vaporized hydraulic fluid). The pilot declared an emergency and returned to Albuquerque and landed runway 03. The aircraft touched down on both main gear and as the nose gear touched the runway it collapsed on contact.
