What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Airman attempts takeoff on a grass field, approximately 1800 feet long, on a heading of approximately 290 degrees. The grass is approximately 4 inches tall and damp with dew. The aircraft does not become airborne. The aircraft strikes pine trees at the end of the field, resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot, who was the only occupant, was not injured. The airman reports commencing takeoff roll with zero flaps and up elevator to raise nose wheel out of grass. The engine appeared to develop normal rated power, and the aircraft accelerated normally to approximately 5O miles per hour. The aircraft did not accelerate beyond 50 mph. The pilot continued the takeoff as the aircraft traveled down the runway, which sloped to the west. When the pilot determined the aircraft was not going to accelerate and decided to abort the takeoff, he applied the brakes. The brakes had no effect on the wet grass.
