From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) PIC reported that the engine stopped while in cruise at 1500FT. An attempted restart was unsuccessful. The aircraft landed in a field without incident 10 miles west of (heg) Herlong Airport Jacksonville FL. An FAA on scene investigation found the engine stopped because of fuel depletion. Further investigation revealed the engine fuel strainer plunger spring was worn and the plunger was rubbing against the engine cowling, causing the fuel to drain through the plunger while in flight. A notarized statement was received from the fueler that the aircraft was topped off 2 hrs. Before the incident.
