From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On September 24, 2003, at approximately 13:20 hours local time, the pilot in command of N990W, a Beech BE-95-C55 terminated a landing with the gear in the up position. The investigation revealed that upon landing and approximately half way down the landing runway, the pilot placed the landing gear handle in the up position. The landing gear began the retraction process, subsequently, the landing gear collapsed. The aircraft made ground contact, both propellers contacted the runway surface, the engines ceased to operate and the aircraft continued forward motion sliding down the landing runway. The aircraft came to rest approximately four hundred feet from initial ground contact. The pilot in command stated that his intent was to retract the flaps, not the landing gear. The weather was VFR. No flight plan was filed.
