From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Wood, owner and builder of N1214W was attempting a landing on his 45 acre ranch and during a go around attempt hit a power pole that is to one side of the runway. Runway is about 600 feet in length and had about 100 feet of flat surface. The remaining part of the runway falls off into a ravine and is about a 8% grade. Landing was attempted at the low end uphill. Mr. Wood failed to arrest his descent and began a slight climb to match the runway. He bounced and added power to go around. The torque of the engine pulled him to the left and he hit the guy wire to the power pole, broke the guy wire and then hit the pole with the left wing of the aircraft. This spun him to the left and the aircraft fell tail first into another ravine. Fuselage was broken forward of the horizontal stabilizer and the aircraft flipped over on its top.

As the FAA filed it
