From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On takeoff, fog was encountered. After lift-off, the aircraft failed to accelerate beyond 62 miles per hour. The PIC elected to abort after lift-off. The aircraft returned to the ground and exited the runway onto the grass. The left wing tip contacted the ground and was damaged. The right side of the horizontal stabilator was damaged when it impacted a runway light. The left main gear fairing was also damaged. The aircraft rolled back across the taxiway and onto another section of grass. The PIC elected to taxi across the grass field back to the runway. Before reaching the runway, the nose wheel descended into a ditch where the prop contacted a structure of cement blocks and wood causing damage to the propeller. The aircraft was being operated at 30 to 50 pounds over maximum gross weight. Submission of this form closes the incident. privacy data omitted
