From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On October 24, 2003, at approximately 0634 PDT, a Bombardier (canadier) regional jet, CL-600-2B19 model aircraft, N77260, had an aborted takeoff at Fresno Yosemite International Airport (fat), Fresno, California, due to the nose landing gear tires failing on takeoff roll on runway 29R. Mesa airlines, inc. (dba: america west express) was operating the airplane under the provisions of 14 CFR part 121. According to the captain, while on takeoff roll, at approximately 128 knots (just prior to V1 rotation speed), he heard two "thumps" in close succession and realized the nose landing gear tires had blown. He immediately contacted the fat air traffic control tower to inform them of the emergency and then exited the runway and turned onto taxiway B10. When the captain released the brakes he became aware of the fact that the steering tiller was inoperative. He guided the aircraft with the use of the brakes. The aircraft came to a rest on the taxiway without further incident. No passenger or flight crew injuries were sustained from the subject incident. The aircraft exterior received various degrees of damage as a result of both nose landing gear tires separating from their respectivewheel assemblies.
