From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After take off and during climb out, at approximately 25K, the pilot saw engine caution light. Looked at instruments, noticed vibration analyzer for number 2 engine at max indication. Felt no unusual vibration at this time. Proceeded to reduce power of number 2 engine. As the power was reduced, the vibration increased and was felt by the air crew. Pilot elected to shutdown the number two engine and declare an emergency. Made a right turn to return to sfo. Set flaps to 12 deg. Landed on 28R, sfo, no damage to aircraft. No injuries to occupants. High pressure turbine seized. Metal found in chip detector after landing.
