From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During take off from a dirt strip the aircraft got airborne and then settled back to the surface. The PIC applied full flaps, the aircraft got airborne long enough to clear trees at the end of the strip and began to settle again. The PIC dumped the chemical load and again the aircraft settled back to the surface. The left wing hit the ground and the aircraft spun around to the left tearing off the gear and folded the empennage. The pilot had been taking off in this direction all day but believes that the wind had shifted around due to an approaching wx front. The airstrip has no wind sock. This investigation is closed.
