From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The flight instructor was giving dual instruction for a high performance endorsement to a rated pilot. During the first engine start attempt, the engine rotated but would not start. The pilot receiving dual stated that he pumped the throttle during the second attempt, shortly after the pilots noticed thick smoke rising from the forward floor area. The CFI instructed the other pilot to evacuate the aircraft. Upon evacuation they observed a fire which had erupted in the cowled area of the engine. The CFI called for emergency equipment from his cell phone.
