What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot states that himself and 2 additional crewmembers were taking off from jbr to travel to paragould to pickup passenger for flight to st. louis, MO. Pilot states that he had a normal start with no fluctuation everything seemed normal. Lift off was at 04:11 CDT and as he rose to approx. 20' the aircraft yawed and the torque came up to 130% of N2 and climbing towards max on gauge. He further states that the rotor RPM was climbing. He attempted to control RPM with throttle but was unable to gain control. After avoiding obstacles (light poles), pilot decided he could not control power sufficiently to land under power so he placed the throttle to idle and entered a low airspeed, high altitude autorotation. Aircraft impacted the ground and bounced once. Flight had not exceeded 50' in altitude and was approx. 500' in length. Aircraft sustained damage to tail boom, both main rotors, and both vertical stab. No personnel were injured. Flight was under visual meteorological conditions and no flight plan had been submitted.
