From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 02/10/2004 at 10:00 am PST, N6503C, a Lancair columbia 350, landed hard on runway 10 @krdm. The commercial rated student recalled that he had chopped the power at about 4 feet and heard the stall horn. The aircraft touched down hard as he applied full power. The aircraft veered to the left. The instructor attempted to apply rudder as he called for the student to reduce power, but the aircraft departed the left side of the runway. The right wing struck a runway sign causing substantial damage including the separation of the outboard right flap. The right main wheel broke off which caused the aircraft to swerve back to the runway surface. Damage included the right wing, the right flap, the right horizontal stabilizer and the right main gear. No injuries reported to the instructor, student or 2 passengers.
