From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot departed double eagle, NM (aeg) at 1800 MST enroute to cedar city, UT. He flew to the page VOR, "turned slightly right to avoid the grand canyon" and continued toward the northwest. He descended over panguitch, UT having mistaken it for the cedar city area. He then climbed to 11,000 and flew southwest toward the cedar city area. As he approached the Parowan Airport (1L9) at 11,000 feet MSL, the engine quit. He circled as he descended and then landed approximately 30 yards short of runway 22.
