From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 2/12/04, darrel whitehead flew CE-210P from santa ana to Van Nuys. It was an uneventful flight until the landing approach in van nuy's runway 34R. The pilot stated that the wind was gusting and he had difficulty keeping the aircraft on course for landing. He had thought about making a go-around but decided to make the best of the landing. After touching down on 34R, the aircraft swerved off the runway. Skid marks began 2100 feet from the approach end. The aircraft departed the runway shortly after the skid marks and went diagonally across the grass in-field, hit a small embankment/culvert, was catipulted upward to graze a taxiway 7E sign, knocking two plastic lenses out and came to rest 200 feet later after breaking off the nosewheel.
