From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) As observed from the flight deck: during take-off roll on runway 26 left, shortly following flight crews call-out of "stabilize" and while accelerating through approximately 70 KTS, heard loud "bang" from number 1 engine. Aircraft abruptly veered to what appeared to be 10 feet left of runway centerline. Flight crew quickly returned aircraft to centerline and aborted take-off exiting runway at B-10. No abnormal engine indications or master warnings observed. Aircraft towed to gate. During towing operations tow bar failed causing damage in the form of several thumb nail deep gouges in the lower nose gear strut casting. Boroscope inspection of affected engine indicated a compressor blade failure resulting in an engine change. In addition, operator will remove nose gear for internal inspection. Engine failure. Cabin crew and passenger injury summary unknown.

As the FAA filed it
