From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot intended to practice takeoffs and landings in the Birchwood Airport traffic pattern. For the first landing of the day he elected to perform a wheel landing with an estimated 7 knot left quartering tailwind. The airplane tracked straight on the main wheels but, when the tail wheel touched down, the airplane veered to the right, struck a snow bank on the side of the runway, and nosed over. The pilot noticed a right turning tendency on previous flights and noted that the left main wheel tire showed more wear then the right.
