From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Departed fdk, heard loud snap during gear retraction. Nose gear did not fully retract. Circled for about 1.5 hours trying to extend gear. Had pax pull access cover to landing gear actuator gearbox, found bellcrank completely broken. Landed with nose gear partially retracted, no injuries. Minor damage to aircraft. Inspection of the aircraft indicated that the nose gear doors had been impacted by the nose wheel during retraction and had crushed up into the nose wheel wall. The nose gear door push/rods were not attached to the door arms. The clevis bolts were attached to the rods but had no nuts installed and showed no signs of damage. Frederick aviation, repair station LC1R291K, had just replaced the heater assembly which is located in the nose baggage area. The mechanic who had performed the work stated that he had accessed the nose gear well to install a heater drain line.
