From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to the pilot, he departed the jake arner airport (22N) for Factoryville, PA. He stated he was on short final to runway 04 at the Factoryville airport when he observed a deer on the runway, approximately 1,200 from the approach end. He stated rather than attempting a go-around, he opted to roll the aircraft off the runway to the left, and onto the grass. The pilot stated he was at an altitude of approximately fifteen (15) feet when he observed the deer. The right main landing gear of the aircraft bogged into the mud and tore off causing substantial damage to the right wing which had to be replaced. There was also damage to the lower portion of the fuselage, and propeller. Note: there was no mention of a deer when maintenance personnel were interviewed. There were no reported injuries, and weather at the time was VFR with winds out of one hundred and sixty (160) degrees at eight (8) knots.
