From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft returning to Falcon field (ffz) Mesa, Arizona after a local flight, pilot received ATIS indicating runway 22 was active with wind 190 degrees at 10 knots. Pilot conducted a full stall landing as the tail wheel touched down a gust of wind caused the left wing to rise. Pilot applied full power to go around, aircraft drifted and the right main wheel came in contact with a runway light reducing the airspeed. Torque link on right main gear broke turning the right wheel 90 degrees to normal position. Aircraft came to rest on its nose. Minor damage to lower engine cowl, propeller and right main gear fairings. There are no additional causal factors at this time.
