The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) privacy data omitted at 1143 local time flight 0193 departed Richmond international airport, Virginia. On rotation, the autopilot disconnect horn sounded (w/autopilot disengaged) throughout climb out. Flight director flags came in and out of view with the fma panel switching in and out of different modes. Flight controls began to bind and felt if roll mode was engaged into cws with the ailerons. There were no hydraulic or control system warnings. The crew then received autopilot alarms and elected to return to ric. During approach, the flight controls returned to normal. At 1216 local time, the aircraft landed overweight at 105,000 lbs., and taxied to the ramp without further incident. An overweight landing inspection was performed per mm 05-51-291. All flight control systems were cycled and the autopilot interlock circuit breakers P18-1 and P6-2 were pulled and collared. The autopilot system was placarded inoperative per MEL 22-00-01C. The 28VDC windshear circuit breaker was found popped. The item was collared and placarded inoperative per MEL 34-00-37B. Aircraft N304DL had an existing MEL deferral prior to flight 0193, on 04/26/2004. The discrepancy states: "captains f /d fails out of view when "a" autopilot is selected. Works normally with "b". The corrective action for this discrepancy was: "trouble shot the system, replaced fcc, ADI, a/p assembly, all no help, replaced all original units placarded captains f/d inoperative per MEL 34-00-12A." The incident was reported to the certificate management office for further investigation and action.
