From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Investigated an incident that occurred at Jean Airport at approx. 1700 PST on the 3rd of may 2004 that involved a Stemme S-10 VT motor glider, N241LS, owned and operated by steve don miller. The motor glider had apparently ran off rwy 20R damaging the right hand wing tip with the right hand main landing gear wheel attachment point collapsing in an outward direction slightly damaging the right hand gear door on the lower edge. Spoke to pilot steve don miller and asked if he had ground looped the motor glider and his response was that the motor glider's front main landing gear got light and he had ground looped the motor glider ending up on the right hand side of rwy 20R at approx. 75 to 80 degree perpendicular to rwy heading off in the dirt where the motor glider's nose was pointing toward the west. Visual on rwy 20R 500 feet from the threshold there was tire marks including prop strikes and fiberglass marks on the runway that supported the conclusion that the motor glider had been ground looped. Photos taken of rwy marks and of the damaged motor glider.
