From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was landing at Garrett County Airport. On touchdown the nose gear fork broke and the nose wheel assembly departed from the aircraft. Further investigation revealed that the nose fork may have been cracked prior to the incident. Discoloration of the metal shows that the crack had oil and dirt in it and it was possibly an old crack. This is on the bottom side of the fork which is not visible with the tire in place. The break shows new clean, brite and shiny metal on the top side of the fork.
