From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot encountered strong gusty winds on landing. He could not maintain the centerline and tried to go around. The right wingtip struck the ground when the pilot was attempting to avoid trees off to the right side of the runway. A loss of control followed the wing strike and the airplane came to rest approximately three hundred (300) feet off to the right of the runway. The pilot listened to the weather on the airport ASOS just before the landing and thought that the wind conditions were within his capabilities.
