From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Student pilot, marco tilgner-FF2415654, during his attempted first solo flight (2nd landing) at Elyria city airport (1G1) runway 27, VFR, winds 250/08; lost control of the aircraft, ran off the left side of the runway at approximately mid field. The aircraft rolled approximately 300 yards before hitting tall grass and soft muddy soil. At this point the aircraft nose gear dug into the soft ground causing it to flip over onto its back. According to the pilot and instructor; the approach looked normal, as the aircraft prepared to land it bounced once and started to porpoise, the pilot did not correct. The aircraft landed left of the centerline and the left landing gear hit the grass which pulled the aircraft off the runway. A slight downward slope from the runway to the taller grass did not help the pilot with his recovery. The pilot walked away with no injuries. There was substantial damage to the aircraft. Damage is summarized in the attached statement from, privacy data omitted- ASI cle FSDO.
